Metropolitan Council Meeting

The Metropolitan Council met in regular session on this date at 7:00 p.m. in the Metropolitan Courthouse.

The invocation was offered by Councilmember Ronnie Greer.

The Metropolitan Council gave the pledge of allegiance to the American Flag.

- ELECTIONS AND CONFIRMATIONS -

Council Audit Committee

The President called for nominations to fill two Council member seats on the Council Audit Committee for a one-year term. Mr. Ferrell nominated Messrs. Jenkins and Waters. There being no further nominations Mr. Ferrell moved for election by acclamation, which motion was seconded and adopted by a unanimous vote of the Council. The President declared the election of Council members Jenkins and Waters for terms ending August 31, 2001.

Auditorium Commission

Appointment of Ms. Caroline Brackett for a term ending June 30, 2003; appointment of Ms. Jane Cleveland for a term ending June 30, 2002; appointment of Ms. Allison Cutler for a term ending June 30, 2003; reappointment of Mr. Alfred Haislip for a term ending June 30, 2003. The Rules-Confirmations-Public Elections Committee recommended the appointments and Mr. Waters moved for confirmation, which motion was seconded and adopted by a unanimous vote of the Council.

Convention Center Commission

Appointment of Ms. Susan Simons for a term ending June 7, 2003. The Rules-Confirmations-Public Elections Committee recommended the appointment and Mr. Waters moved for confirmation, which motion was seconded and adopted by a unanimous vote of the Council.

Housing Code Appeals Board

Appointment of Ms. Jan Bushing for a term ending April 7, 2002; appointment of Mr. Riney Green for a term ending August 6, 2004; appointment of Ms. Lethia Mann for a term ending April 7, 2002; appointment of Ms. Carol Williams for a term ending July 29, 2004. The Rules-Confirmations-Public Elections Committee recommended the appointments and Mr. Waters moved for confirmation, which motion was seconded and adopted by a unanimous vote of the Council.

A substitute resolution expressing support of the Nashville Publishers Co-op’s efforts in installing modular newspaper racks. A resolution requesting the Metropolitan Chief of Police to expeditiously resolve complaints against the Police Officers.
