ORDINANCE NO. BL2000-399

An ordinance approving a grant from the State of Tennessee, Department of Finance and Administration to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the Metropolitan Police Department for the Stop the Violence Against Women Program.

Whereas, the State of Tennessee, Department of Finance and Administration, has awarded a grant in an amount not to exceed one hundred thirty two thousand eight hundred seventy dollars ($132,870) to the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the Metropolitan Police Department for the Stop the Violence Against Women Program; and

Whereas, it is to the benefit of the citizens of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant be accepted.

Now, therefore, be it enacted by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1. That the grant by and between the State of Tennessee, Department of Finance and Administration, in an amount not to exceed one hundred thirty two thousand eight hundred seventy dollars ($132,870) for a term of July 1, 2000 to June 30, 2003, to the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the Metropolitan Police Department for the Stop the Violence Against Women Program, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan County Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2. That the sum of forty four thousand two hundred eighty nine dollars ($44,289) be provided for the purpose of providing the Metropolitan Government’s in kind matching share for the program.

Section 3. Any amendments to this grant may be approved by a resolution of the Metropolitan Council, which receives at least twenty-one affirmative votes.

Section 4. That this Ordinance shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
