Ordinance No. BL2000-388

An ordinance authorizing the Metropolitan Mayor to execute agreements with the Nashville Electric Service and/or Tennessee Valley Authority for the Department of Water and Sewerage Services to purchase electrical power.

WHEREAS, the Nashville Electric Service and/or the Tennessee Valley Authority are the sole suppliers of electrical power; and

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Department of Water and Sewerage Services (the "Department") is working to reduce the cost of electrical power to operate its water and wastewater facilities in Davidson, Wilson and Williamson Counties; and

WHEREAS, Nashville Electric Service and/or Tennessee Valley Authority have initiated a Variable Price Interruptible Power Product which provides large power users an opportunity to obtain a lower power cost pursuant to the terms of the contract attached to this ordinance as Exhibit A.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Metropolitan Mayor or his designee is hereby authorized to execute agreements with Nashville Electric Service and/or Tennessee Valley Authority to participate in the Variable Price Interruptible Power Contract (Exhibit A) after prior approval by the directors of the Departments of Water and Sewerage Services, Finance and Division of Purchasing.

Section 2. That this ordinance shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
