ORDINANCE NO. BL2000-434

An ordinance authorizing a grant in an amount not to exceed sixteen thousand five hundred and twenty seven dollars and one cent ($16,527.01) between the State of Tennessee, Department of State, and the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the Public Library, to establish a dial-in audio reading service for the blind and physically handicapped.

Whereas, the State of Tennessee, Department of State has awarded a grant for the term of October 1, 2000, to June 31, 2001, in an amount not to exceed sixteen thousand five hundred and twenty seven dollars and one cent ($16,527.01) to the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the Public Library to establish a dial-in audio reading service for the blind and physically handicapped; and

Whereas, it is to the benefit of the citizens of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County to accept this grant.

Now therefore, be it enacted by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1. That the grant by and between the State of Tennessee, Department of State, for the term of October 1, 2000 to June 31, 2001, in an amount not to exceed sixteen thousand five hundred and twenty seven dollars and one cent ($16,527.01) to establish a dial-in audio reading service for the blind and physically handicapped, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan County Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2: That the sum of four thousand four hundred and seventy two dollars and ninety nine cents ($4,472.99) be provided from fund 30403 for the purpose of providing the Metropolitan Government’s matching share.

Section 3. Any amendments to this grant may be approved by resolution of the Metropolitan Council, which receives at least twenty-one affirmative votes.

Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
