ORDINANCE NO. BL2000-413

An ordinance accepting a grant agreement between the State of Tennessee, Department of Finance and Administration, Office of Criminal Justice Programs and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County for the provision of the Forensic Alternative Community Treatment Grant through the Metropolitan Public Defender’s Office as provided by the Edward Byrne Memorial Formula Grant Program and accepting a donation from the Mental Health Cooperative in the amount of $21,139.

Whereas, the State of Tennessee, Department of Finance and Administration, Office of Criminal Justice Programs has offered a grant in the amount of sixty-three thousand four hundred seventeen dollars ($ 63,417.00) to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County for the next 48 months not to exceed two hundred fifty-three thousand six hundred sixty-eight dollars ($253,668.00) to be used and maintained by the Metropolitan Public Defender’s Office for the provision of the Forensic Alternative Community Treatment Grant ; and

Whereas, the Mental Health Cooperative has offered to donate to the Metropolitan Government the sum of twenty-one thousand one hundred thirty nine dollars ($21, 139.00) to be used as matching funds for the grant contract; and

Whereas, it is deemed to be in the best interest of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and its citizens to accept the grant from the State of Tennessee, Department of Finance and Administration, Office of Criminal Justice Programs for the use of the Metropolitan Public Defender’s Office;

Now, therefore, be it enacted by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1. That the grant in the amount of sixty-three thousand four hundred seventeen dollars ($ 63,417.00) to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County from the State of Tennessee, Department of Finance and Administration, Office of Criminal Justice Programs for the provision of Forensic Alternative Community Treatment Grant, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2. That the donation of twenty-one thousand one-hundred thirty nine dollars ($21, 139.00) from The Mental Health Cooperative is hereby accepted and shall be used as matching funds for the grant contract referenced herein.

Section 3. That any amendments shall be approved by resolution of the Metropolitan Council receiving twenty-one (21) affirmative votes.

Section 4. That this ordinance shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
