RESOLUTION NO. RS2000-339
A resolution appropriating to the Metropolitan Board of Public Education an amount not to exceed three million, one hundred and five thousand, five hundred ninety five dollars ($3,105,595) of additional revenue provided to the school district by the state of Tennessee to partially fund the mandated teacher salary increase.
Whereas, the Metropolitan Board of Public Education presented a 2000-2001 General Operational Fund Budget to the Mayor and to the Metropolitan Council which did not contain a salary increase, other than steps earned; and
Whereas, on June 22, 2000, the Metropolitan Council approved a 2000-2001 General Operational Budget (Business Unit #80101000) totaling $404,520,869 for the school district based upon then- known revenues; and
Whereas, the State of Tennessee subsequently approved a mandated increase in teacher salaries; and
Whereas, the state BEP appropriation to the Metropolitan Nashville Davidson County School District has been increased by $3,105,595 to partially fund the mandated salary increase; and
Whereas, on August 22, 2000, the Metropolitan Board of Public Education passed a resolution requesting that the Mayor and the Metropolitan Council amend the 2000-2001 General Operational Fund Budget from $404,520,869 to $407,626,464 due to the $3,105,595 additional revenue that the school district will receive from the state of Tennessee to partially fund the mandated state teacher raise.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESLOVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. There is hereby appropriated three million, one hundred five thousand, five hundred ninety five dollars ($3,105,595) to the Metropolitan Board of Public Education, which amount is in addition to the amount appropriated in the current operating budget.
Section 2. The additional three million, one hundred five thousand, five hundred ninety five dollars ($3,105,595) is to be funded directly from the state of Tennessee to the School Fund (#35131).
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government requiring it.
