The invocation was offered by Councilmember Charles Fentress.
The Metropolitan Council gave the pledge of allegiance to the American Flag.

RESOLUTION NO. R99-1596
A resolution approving a contract by and between the Metropolitan Government and Waste Management, Inc., for collection of residential curbside recycling materials in the Urban Services District. Mr. Fentress asked permission to withdraw the resolution at the request of the Administration, which permission was granted without objection.
A resolution requesting the Metropolitan Board of Public Education to name one of the new school facilities in honor of Vic Varallo. The resolution was approved by the Rules-Confirmations-Public Elections-Aviation Committee; the Education Committee recommended deferment. Mr. Majors moved to defer action on the resolution, which motion was seconded and adopted by a voice vote of the Council.
RESOLUTION NO. R99-1614
A resolution requesting the Davidson County delegation to the Tennessee General Assembly to enact necessary legislation to allow recall provisions of the Metropolitan Charter to be applicable in the area of the Metropolitan Government. The Rules-Confirmations-Public Elections-Aviation Committee recommended deferment of the resolution.
