RESOLUTION NO. R99-1646

A resolution clarifying council- initiated infrastructure projects allowed to be funded with general obligation multi-purpose improvement bond proceeds authorized by Substitute Resolution R97-855.

Whereas, Substitute Resolution R97-855 authorized the issuance of general obligation multipurpose improvement bonds in an amount not to exceed one hundred fifty million dollars; and

Whereas, seven million dollars of the one hundred fifty million was dedicated to be used on Metro Council-initiated projects; and

Whereas, the Metro Council- initiated projects were to include "construction of streets, roads and sidewalks and construction of improvements, repairs and replacements to the streets, roads bridges, sidewalks and storm drainage system of the Metropolitan Government, including the purchase of land, rights-of-way and other interests in land in connection therewith" ("Infrastructure Projects"); and

Whereas, Substitute Resolution R97-855 authorizes the general obligation multi-purpose improvement bonds to be used for "construction of community centers and construction of improvements, repairs and replacements to existing community centers in and for the Metropolitan Government, including the purchase of land and interests in land in connection therewith" ("Community Center Projects"); and

Whereas, Substitute Resolution R97-855 further authorizes the general obligation multipurpose improvement bonds to be used for "renovation, repair, construction and equipping of public schools in and for the Metropolitan Government, including the purchase of any land or interests therein in connection therewith" ("School Projects"); and

Whereas, the members of the Metropolitan Council, in addition to designating their portion of the Metro Council- initiated project bond proceeds for Infrastructure Projects, wish to designate their portion of the Metro Council- initiated project bond proceeds to include Community Center Projects and School Projects.

Now therefore, be it resolved by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1: The seven million dollars of general obligation multi-purpose bond proceeds authorized by Substitute Resolution R97-855 to be utilized in the manner designated by Metropolitan Council members (Metro Council- initiated projects) may include Infrastructure Projects, Community Center Projects and School Projects.

Section 2: This resolution shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
