RESOLUTION NO. R99-1648

A resolution honoring Reporter Rob Moritz.

WHEREAS, upon graduation from the University of Arkansas in Little Rock, Rob Moritz first went to work as a Reporter at the Benton, Arkansas Courier, and then went on to work for the Arkansas Gazette before moving to Nashville, Tennessee; and

WHEREAS, Rob Moritz began his career at The Tennessean on February 23, 1998, following nine years of service with the now defunct Nashville Banner Newspaper; and

WHEREAS, Rob’s duties at the Nashville Banner and The Tennessean included covering the daily news, events and happenings of the Metropolitan Government and the Metropolitan County Council; and

WHEREAS, Rob quickly became a popular and well respected news reporter, known throughout the Metropolitan Government and the Metro Council for his honest and non-biased coverage of Nashville; and

WHEREAS, Rob will soon be leaving Nashville to return to Little Rock, Arkansas, where he will take a job as Capital Bureau Reporter for the prestigious Arkansas Democrat Gazette, and his fair and objective reporting will be missed by the entire City of Nashville; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize Rob Moritz for his service to The Metropolitan Government.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby recognizes Mr. Rob Moritz as he leaves The Tennessean and Nashville, and extends best wishes to him in his future endeavors.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff is directed to prepare a printed scroll to be presented to Mr. Rob Moritz.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
