ORDINANCE NO. O99-1793

An ordinance approving an agreement between the U.S. Department of Defense and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County acting by and through the emergency management department for the loan of emergency preparedness equipment pursuant to the Nunn-Lugar-Domenici Act and authorizing the Mayor to execute the same.

Whereas, under the Nunn-Lugar-Domenici Act, 50 U.S.C.A. §2301, the federal government is authorized to provide property, training, and preparation for local emergency management organizations; and

Whereas, the proposed Agreement provides that the Department of Defense will loan and the Metropolitan Government will borrow equipment for training under the Nunn-Lugar-Domenici Act; and

Now, therefore, be it enacted by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1: That the agreement between the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Department of Emergency Management, concerning the loan of emergency management training equipment, a copy of which is attached hereto, is hereby approved and the Metropolitan Mayor is hereby authorized to execute said agreement.

Section 2 : This Ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage, the

welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
