RESOLUTION NO. R99-1637
A resolution requesting certain Metropolitan Government officials to review the preliminary report of the Stormwater Management Task Force and report to the council on possible appropriate funding mechanisms.
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council adopted Resolution No. R98-1273 which created a task force to assess the current Stormwater Management Program of the Metropolitan Government and to recommend an improved Stormwater Management Program for the Metropolitan Government, including recommendation of proposed legislation necessary to implement such program; and
WHEREAS, a preliminary report of the task force dated July 20, 1999, has been prepared by Ogden Environmental & Energy Services, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, the preliminary report provided that the new council and mayor should take steps to review and approve the program concept for the Stormwater Task Force, review the findings from the other stormwater task force and blend and coordinate the recommendations, assess and develop supporting funding mechanisms, and implement the program as funding is made available; and
WHEREAS, in order to proceed with the proposed review and implementation of the task force report, it is fitting and proper that certain officials of the Metropolitan Government be requested to review and consider proposed funding sources that would allow such implementation of the findings of the task force.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby requests that the following officials of the Metropolitan Government, or their appropriate designee, review the preliminary task force report findings pursuant to Resolution No. R98-1273 as to potential funding sources that are adequate and legally available, and to make a recommendation to the Metropolitan County Council. This group of officials shall include the director of the council staff office, who shall serve as coordinator; the director of law; the director of finance; the director of public works; the director of water and sewerage services; the director of parks and recreation; and the Metropolitan county mayor.
SECTION 2. The Council further requests that this group of Metropolitan Government officials begin their work as soon as reasonably possible after election of county officials, and report findings to the council and mayor as soon as reasonably possible.
SECTION 3. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the above listed Metropolitan Government officials.
SECTION 4. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
