ORDINANCE NO. O99-1799
An ordinance approving a technical assistance grant from the State Justice Institute to the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County acting through the Metropolitan General Sessions Court for the mental health jail diversion project.
Whereas, the State Justice Institute, a private non-profit corporation, has awarded a technical assistance grant in the amount not to exceed sixteen thousand eight hundred dollars ($16,800.00) for the Mental Health Jail Diversion Project to the Metropolitan General Sessions Court; and,
Whereas, the Metropolitan Government is required under said grant award to provide in-kind matching funds in the amount of five-thousand forty four dollars ($5,044) and additional in-kind matching funds of twelve thousand six hundred fifteen dollars ($12,615) will be provided by sources outside of Metropolitan Government ; and,
Whereas, the conditions and restrictions in receiving this grant are attached to the grant award letter a copy of which is attached to this ordinance; and
Whereas, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant be accepted;
Now, therefore be it resolved by the Council of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:
Section 1: That the grant award between the State Justice Institute and the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County (Grant Number SJI-99-T-139) acting through the Metropolitan General Sessions Court from May 1, 1999 to August 31, 1999, a copy of which is attached thereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.
Section 2: That an in-kind match of five-thousand forty four dollars ($5,044) be provided for the purpose of providing the Metropolitan Governments matching share for the program.
Section 3: That amendments to the grant award references herein shall be approved by resolution of the Metropolitan Council receiving twenty-one affirmative votes.
Section 4: This Ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
