Metropolitan Council Meeting

The Metropolitan Council met in regular session on this date at 7:00 p.m. in the Metropolitan Courthouse.
The invocation was offered by Reverend Henry K. Smith, Jr. of First Baptist Church of South Inglewood.
The Metropolitan Council gave the pledge of allegiance to the American Flag.

Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority
Appointment of Mr. J.D. Elliott to the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority. The Rules-Confirmations-Public Elections Committee recommended the appointment, and Mr. Waters moved for confirmation, which motion was seconded and adopted by a unanimous vote of the Council.
Appointment of Ms. Janet Rachel to the Civil Service Commission. The Rules-Confirmations-Public Elections Committee recommended the appointment, and Mr. Waters moved for confirmation, which motion was seconded and adopted by a unanimous vote of the Council.
Reappointment of Ms. Jacqueline Shrago and the appointment of Mr. Michael Schoenfeld to the CATV Special Committee. Emergency Communications District Board

Tourism and Convention Commission
Appointment of Ms. Shannon R. Bowles to the Tourism and Convention Commission. The Rules-Confirmations-Public Elections Committee recommended the appointment, and Mr. Waters moved for confirmation, which motion was seconded and adopted by a unanimous vote of the Council.
Traffic and Parking Commission
Appointment of Ms. Kathy Austin to the Traffic and Parking Commission. The Rules-Confirmations-Public Elections Committee recommended the appointment, and Mr. Waters moved for confirmation, which motion was seconded and adopted by a unanimous vote of the Council.
Cheatham County Rail Authority
The President announced that an election would be conducted to fill a two-year term on the Cheatham County Rail Authority and that the name of Councilman Tony Derryberry had been submitted in nomination for the position. Mr. Waters, Chairman of the Rules-Confirmations-Public Elections Committee, having reported that the Committee had considered and found Councilman Derryberry to be qualified for the seat, moved for the election of Councilman Derryberry by acclamation, which motion was seconded and unanimously adopted.

A resolution approving an interlocal agreement between the State of Tennessee, Department of Finance and Administration and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, for professional services, including information technology, training and financial and management consulting services. A resolution requesting the Davidson County Delegation to the Tennessee General Assembly to adopt legislation that would enable the Metropolitan Government to impose a one-cent gas tax on gasoline in the area of the Metropolitan Government. The Budget and Finance Committee had a split vote on its recommendation. Mr. Wallace offered Amendment No. 1 and moved for its adoption, which motion was seconded and adopted by a voice vote of the Council. A resolution requesting the Mayor, the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency, and the Department of Codes Administration to review all structures condemned by the Department of Codes Administration as uninhabitable to determine those suitable for affordable housing.
