RESOLUTION NO. RS2000-186
A resolution requesting the Tennessee Department of Transportation to coordinate construction on interstate highways so as to alleviate traffic congestion.
WHEREAS, three major interstates run through the area of the Metropolitan Government, together with I-440 and I-265 which connects major interstates; and
WHEREAS, numerous construction projects on several different sections of interstate seem to occur on a continuing basis can cause a dramatic increase in traffic congestion on our interstates; and
WHEREAS, such interstate construction and repair should be coordinated so as to alleviate the increased congestion and promote a smoother traffic flow.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Tennessee Department of Transportation to coordinate construction on interstate highways so as to alleviate traffic congestion.
SECTION 2. That the Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the Commissioner of the Tennessee State Department of Transportation.
SECTION 3. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
