RESOLUTION NO. RS2000-182

A resolution requesting the Tennessee General Assembly to adopt House Bill No. 538/Senate Bill No. 436 relative to the solicitation and the issuance of credit cards on college campuses and distributing lists of students names and addresses to credit card issuers.

WHEREAS, there is presently pending in the Tennessee General Assembly House Bill No. 538/Senate Bill No. 436 which would make certain practices unlawful, including the distribution of lists of college students and their addresses to credit card issuers, recruitment of customers for credit card services on college campuses, and providing gifts or other promotional incentives to entice college students to apply for credit cards.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Tennessee General Assembly to adopt House Bill No. 538/Senate Bill No. 436 which are presently pending in the Tennessee General Assembly.

SECTION 2. That the Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to each member of the Davidson County Delegation to the Tennessee General Assembly.

SECTION 3. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
