Metropolitan Council Meeting

The Metropolitan Council met in regular session on this date at 7:00 p.m. in the Metropolitan Courthouse.
The invocation was offered by Councilmember John Summers.
The Metropolitan Council gave the pledge of allegiance to the American Flag.

- ELECTIONS AND CONFIRMATIONS -
Reappointment of Mr. Paul Bell to the Arts Commission for a term expiring January 1, 2004. The Rules-Confirmations-Public Elections Committee recommended the appointment, and Mr. Ferrell moved for confirmation, which motion was seconded and adopted by a unanimous vote of the Council.
Appointment of Mr. Jefferson H. Okerman to the Arts Commission for a term expiring January 1, 2004. The Rules-Confirmations-Public Elections Committee recommended the appointment, and Mr. Ferrell moved for confirmation, which motion was seconded and adopted by a unanimous vote of the Council.
Appointment of Mr. Steve Sirls to the Arts Commission for a term expiring January 1, 2004. The Rules-Confirmations-Public Elections Committee recommended the appointment, and Mr. Ferrell moved for confirmation, which motion was seconded and adopted by a unanimous vote of the Council.
Appointment of Ms. Cindy Steine to the Arts Commission for a term expiring January 1, 2003. The Rules-Confirmations-Public Elections Committee recommended the appointment, and Mr. Ferrell moved for confirmation, which motion was seconded and adopted by a unanimous vote of the Council.
Appointment of Ms. Betsy Walkup to the Employee Benefit Board for a term expiring June 30, 2001. The Rules-Confirmations-Public Elections Committee recommended the appointment, and Mr. Ferrell moved for confirmation, which motion was seconded and adopted by a unanimous vote of the Council.
Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency
Appointment of Ms. Leigh Walton to the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency for a term expiring July 1, 2005. The Rules-Confirmations-Public Elections Committee recommended the appointment, and Mr. Ferrell moved for confirmation, which motion was seconded and adopted by a unanimous vote of the Council.
Municipal Solid Waste Region Board
Appointment of Ms. Anna Alexander to the Municipal Solid Waste Region Board for a term expiring December 15, 2006. The Rules-Confirmations-Public Elections Committee recommended the appointment, and Mr. Ferrell moved for confirmation, which motion was seconded and adopted by a unanimous vote of the Council.

- BILLS ON PUBLIC HEARING -
An ordinance to amend Title 17 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws, the Zoning Ordinance of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, by changing from AR2a District to IR District property at Ashland City Highway (unnumbered), approximately 560 feet west of Old Hydes Ferry Pike (13.19 acres), (Proposal No. 2000Z-115G-03), all of which is more particularly described herein. The bill was disapproved by the Planning Commission. Ms. Gilmore moved to defer action indefinitely on the bill, the bill being requested by Joe Ham The Ingram Group, which motion was seconded and adopted by a voice vote of the Council.
An ordinance to amend Title 17 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws, the Zoning Ordinance of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, by canceling and amending a portion of the Commercial (General) Planned Unit Development District abutting the west margin of Franklin Pike and the north margin of Gale Lane, classified OL District and proposed for SCC and R10 Districts (7.19 acres), to cancel a portion approved for a 36,000 square foot church facility to allow for a 48,000 square foot retail facility as was originally approved, (Proposal No. 89P-022U-10), all of which is more particularly described herein.
