RESOLUTION NO. RS2001-461

A resolution recognizing Assistant Police Chief Robert Russell upon his retirement from service with the Metropolitan Police Department.

WHEREAS, in December of 2000, Assistant Police Chief Robert Russell retired after completing thirty-seven years of faithful and dedicated service to his employees, colleagues and the citizens of Davidson County; and

WHEREAS, since 1992, Assistant Chief Russell has headed the police department's Investigative Services Bureau, which includes the Vice, Youth Services, Murder Squad, Homicide, Sex Abuse, Identification and Burglary components, and all detectives as well as the crime scene technicians and storage facilities; and

WHEREAS, throughout his career he worked in the Patrol Division, and Identification Division of the police department, as a director at the Training Academy, and in the Planning and Research Division developing and Monitoring the annual budget for the department; and

WHEREAS, it is men like Assistant Police Chief Robert Russell who selflessly give of their time and energy to make the communities of Davidson County a better place to live and work; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize Assistant Police Chief Robert Russell on his outstanding work ethic.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Assistant Police Chief Robert Russell upon his retirement from service with the Metropolitan Police Department.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Assistant Police Chief Robert Russell.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
