RESOLUTION NO. RS2001-463

A resolution recognizing Lori Bean Flemming on winning "The Milken Foundation National Educator Award".

WHEREAS, on Wednesday, October 11, 2000, Lori Bean Flemming, educator at Una Elementary School, was awarded with "The Milken Foundation National Educator Award"; and

WHEREAS, the Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award was conceived as a way to confer public recognition and financial rewards to elementary and secondary school teachers, principals, and other education professionals; and

WHEREAS, Lori Bean Flemming, a first-grade teacher has been teaching at Una Elementary for eight years and was selected for developing several innovative math, science and technology programs; and

WHEREAS, Lori Bean Flemming is well deserving of this award not only for her outstanding contributions to education but her commitment to improving education for our youngest students and her dedication to the teaching profession; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize Lori Bean Flemming for her accomplishments which resulted in her receiving "The Milken Foundation National Educator Award".

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Lori Bean Flemming on winning "The Milken Foundation National Educator Award".

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Lori Bean Flemming.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
