RESOLUTION NO. RS2001-471

A resolution recognizing Volunteer State Community College on the occasion of their 30th anniversary of service to Nashville - Davidson County.

WHEREAS, Volunteer State Community College is a two-year comprehensive institution of higher learning, with open admissions, governed by the Tennessee Board of Regents; and

WHEREAS, the college is university-parallel and offers the first two-years of university-transferable academic programs and courses, and career-technical programs, with associate degrees, certificates, and diplomas in various fields; and

WHEREAS, Volunteer State Community College offers a wide range of adult and continuing education courses, services, programs, seminars, and workshops serving individuals, business, industry, and the professions, including those of Nashville - Davidson County; and

WHEREAS, in addition to its main campus, the college offers collegiate courses and programs at several high schools in Davidson County and at the Madison Church of Christ education facility; and

WHEREAS, Volunteer State Community College continues to be the principal public community college designated by the State Legislature in service of higher education in Nashville - Davidson County; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize and salutes Volunteer State Community College on its 30th anniversary and commends the college for its continued exemplary public service to the citizens of Nashville - Davidson County.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Volunteer State Community College on the occasion of there 30th anniversary of service to Nashville - Davidson County.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a copy of the Resolution to be presented to Dr. Hal Ramer on behalf of Volunteer State Community College its faculty and students.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
