RESOLUTION NO. RS2001-462
A resolution recognizing Metropolitan Schools Director Dr. Bill Wise on winning the 2000 "Bill Wise Award".
WHEREAS, Dr. Bill Wise recently earned nationwide acclaim for being the recipient of the first annual award named after him the "Bill Wise Award"; and
WHEREAS, the "Bill Wise Award" was presented to Dr. Wise on Thursday, November 2, 2000, in Florida by the Council of Great City Schools; and
WHEREAS, in future years the "Bill Wise Award" will be presented to outstanding school business managers who have distinguished records in urban education and exemplify Dr. Wise's ideals of leadership, innovation, commitment and professionalism; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Wise was selected, honored and recognized for thirty one years of outstanding leadership in urban education; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Wise was recognized for his vision, hands-on approach hard work, in particular his work with school financial officers on the council and keen understanding of Nashville's personnel as well as its facilities and its needs to be financially prudent; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize Dr. Wise for his achievements, particularly his receipt of the 2000 Bill Wise Award, and wish him continued success in his professional endeavors.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Metropolitan Schools Director Dr. Bill Wise on winning the 2000 "Bill Wise Award".
SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a copy of the Resolution to be presented to Bill Wise.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
