The Metropolitan Council met in regular session on this date at 7:00 p.m. in the Metropolitan Courthouse.
The invocation was offered by Councilmember Charles Fentress
The Metropolitan Council gave the pledge of allegiance to the American Flag.
The roll was called and the following members were present during the progress of the meeting: Varallo, Armistead, Steine, Ferrell, Waters, Black, Nollner, Majors, Harrison, Beehan, Campbell, Hart, Dillard, Garrett, Wooden, Ponder, French, Stanley, Dale, Douglas, Clifton, Sloss, Haddox, McCallister, Crafton, Johns, Kleinfelter, Arriola, Sontany, Hall, Hollis, Alexander, Jenkins, Fentress, Lineweaver, and President West (36); Absent: Patton, Graves, Holloway, Turner (4).
The Minutes of the regular meeting of August 18, 1998 were approved.
The President called for nominations to fill the position of President Pro Tem of the Council for a one-year term expiring August 31, 1999. Mr. Garrett nominated Ms. Beehan, which motion was seconded. There being no further nominations, Mr. Campbell moved that nominations cease and that Ms. Beehan be elected by acclamation, which motion was seconded and adopted by a unanimous vote of the Council.
Mr. Harrison moved that the November 3, 1998 meeting of the Council be moved to Thursday, November 5, 1998 to avoid conflicting with the general election on the regular meeting date. The motion was seconded and adopted by a unanimous vote of the Council.
