ORDINANCE NO. O98-1378

An ordinance approving a drug control and systems improvement grant contract for the Metropolitan Sheriff’s Office (Davidson County day reporting program) with the State of Tennessee, Department of Finance and Administration and providing matching funds in the amount of $89,191.

WHEREAS, the State of Tennessee, Department of Finance and Administration, has awarded a grant contract in an amount not to exceed two hundred sixty seven thousand five hundred seventy one dollars ($267,571.00) for the drug control and drug control systems improvement Davidson County day reporting program by the Metropolitan Sheriff’s Office; and,

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government is required under said grant contract to provide matching funds in the amount of eighty nine thousand one hundred ninety one dollars ($89,191.00); and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant be accepted;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1: That the grant contract between the State of Tennessee and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County for the drug control and drug control systems improvement Davidson County day reporting program (Grant Number 99DG100) by the Metropolitan Sheriff’s Office, from July 1, 1998 to June 30, 2002, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

SECTION 2: That matching funds in the amount of eighty nine thousand one hundred ninety one dollars ($89,191.00) be provided for the purpose of providing the Metropolitan Government’s matching share for the program.

SECTION 3: That amendments to the grant contract referenced herein shall be approved by resolution of the Metropolitan Council receiving twenty-one affirmative votes.

SECTION 4: That this Ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
