Metropolitan Council Meeting
Thursday, June 22, 2000


The Metropolitan Council met in adjourned session on this date at 7:00 p.m. in the Metropolitan Courthouse.

The invocation was offered by Councilmember Ron Turner.

The Metropolitan Council gave the pledge of allegiance to the American Flag.

The Minutes of the regular meeting of June 20, 2000 were approved.

BILL NO. BL99-18

An ordinance to amend Title 17 of The Metropolitan Code of Laws, the Zoning Ordinance of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, by changing from AR2a District to RM20 District property at 2932 Baby Ruth Lane, approximately 725 feet north of Mt. View Road (2.02 acres), (Proposal No. 99Z-100U), all of which is more particularly described herein. The bill was approved by the Planning Commission and the Planning, Zoning and Historical Committee. Mr. Alexander moved to defer the bill on third reading, the bill being requested by Michael and Shelia Bollinger, which motion was seconded and adopted by a voice vote of the Council.

BILL NO. BL2000-290

A bill to be entitled: The Budget Ordinance of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, Tennessee for the fiscal year 2000 – 2001. Ms. Beehan offered a substitute bill and moved that it be accepted for filing, and no objection was heard.

SUBSTITUTE BILL NO. BL2000-290

A bill to be entitled: The Budget Ordinance of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, Tennessee for the fiscal year 2000 – 2001. The substitute bill was approved by the Budget and Finance Committee. Ms. Tucker offered Amendment No. 1 and moved for its adoption, which motion was seconded. The amendment was disapproved by the Budget and Finance Committee. Ms. Beehan moved to table the motion to amend, which motion was seconded and adopted by a roll call vote of the Council.  Ms. Tucker offered Amendment No. 2 and moved for its adoption, which motion was seconded. The amendment was disapproved by the Budget and Finance Committee. Mr. Ferrell moved to table the motion to amend, which motion was seconded and adopted by a roll call vote of the Council. An ordinance amending the Metropolitan Code of Laws, Title 3, Chapter 64, by transferring the Employee Assistance Program from the Metropolitan Health Department to the Metropolitan Human Resources Department, transferring the responsibilities of the Chief Medical Director of the Metropolitan Health Department related thereto to the Director of the Department of Human Resources and transferring the responsibilities of the Board of Health related thereto to the Civil Service Commission. The bill was approved by the Budget and Finance, Personnel-Public Information-Human Relations-Housing, and the Health, Hospitals and Social Services Committees. An ordinance amending Section 7.16.030.C. of the Metropolitan Code by adding a portion of Stewart’s Ferry Pike to the list of streets, roads or avenues that a retail liquor store may front or abut and therefore continue to operate, provided the location held a valid certificate of compliance and license to sell liquor at retail on October 5, 1990, when Metropolitan Ordinance No. O90-1339 became effective.
