ORDINANCE NO. BL2000-292

An ordinance amending the Metropolitan Code of Laws, Title 3, Chapter 64, by transferring the Employee Assistance Program from the Metropolitan Health Department to the Metropolitan Human Resources Department, transferring the responsibilities of the Chief Medical Director of the Metropolitan Health Department related thereto to the Director of the Department of Human Resources and transferring the responsibilities of the Board of Health related thereto to the Civil Service Commission.

WHEREAS, the Employee Assistance Program of the Metropolitan Government is currently a disvision of the Metropolitan Health Department; and

WHEREAS, the Employee Assistance Program of the Metropolitan Government is more appropriately within the Department of Human Resources.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That Title 3, Chapter 64 is amended as follows:

a. Whenever this Chapter uses the words "the Metropolitan Health Department", the words "the Metropolitan Human Resources Department" shall be substituted in lieu thereof;

b. Whenever this chapter uses the words "Chief Medical Director of the Metropolitan Health Department" the words "Director of the Metropolitan Human Resources Department" shall be substituted in lieu thereof;

c. Whenever this Chapter uses the words "Metropolitan Board of Health" the words "Civil Service Commission" shall be substituted in lieu thereof, provided, however, the final sentence of 3.64.020 shall read "All employees of the program shall be civil service employees of the Metropolitan Human Resources Department unless the ordinance creating positions for the program shall provide otherwise."

SECTION 2. This Ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
