ORDINANCE NO. BL2015-1275

An ordinance authorizing the exchange of certain properties by The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation, and the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency, to facilitate the redevelopment of the Cayce Place (Proposal No. 2015M-022PR-001).

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency (“MDHA”) has undertaken a long-term planning process for the redevelopment of the Cayce Place property known as Envision Cayce; and;

WHEREAS, the Envision Cayce plan was developed with the input of community members, residents of Cayce Place and a Community’s Advisory Committee (CAG); and

WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of MDHA has adopted the Envision Cayce plan as the guidelines for redeveloping the area into a mixed-use and mixed-income neighborhood; and

WHEREAS, the Envision Cayce plan proposes that the Kirkpatrick Park property, as shown on Exhibit A, will be redeveloped into housing, and that a new linear park will be developed on property currently owned by MDHA as shown on Exhibit B, and upon completion of the park, will be conveyed to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation, for use as a public park.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY;

Section 1. The Director of Public Property is hereby authorized to transfer to MDHA the property shown on Exhibit A, attached hereto and incorporated herein, to permit the redevelopment of such property into housing, and upon completion of the construction of the linear park on the property shown on Exhibit B, attached hereto and incorporated herein, to accept the conveyance of such property by MDHA to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation, for use as a public park.

Section 2. Any amendment to the described exchange of these properties, for these same purposes, may be authorized by resolution.

Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
