RESOLUTION RS2017-952

A resolution appropriating funds from the United States Department of Health and Human Services to the Metropolitan Action Commission to support the Head Start Program by funding a comprehensive child development program for disadvantaged children and approving amendments one and two to the grant contract.

WHEREAS, the United States Department of Health and Human Services has awarded a grant in an amount not to exceed $12,383,987.00 with a required cash match of $3,095,997.00 to the Metropolitan Action Commission (as reflected in amendment one which corrected grantor typographical error by identifying the Metropolitan Action Commission as the grantee instead of the Public Health Department); and,

WHEREAS, amendment two to the grant awards a cost of living adjustment of $122,413.00 for fiscal year 2018, copies of which amendments one and two are attached hereto; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that these additional funds be appropriated to the Metropolitan Action Commission and amendments one and two be accepted.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the funds from a grant by and between the United States Department of Health and Human Services to the Metropolitan Action Commission and amendments one and two to the grant contract to support the Head Start Program by funding a comprehensive child development program for disadvantaged children, a copy of which grant and amendments one and two are attached hereto and incorporated herein, be appropriated to the Metropolitan Action Commission, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.
