RESOLUTION RS2017-920

A resolution approving two agreements between the United States Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration (“DEA”), and the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, governing the participation of DEA Nashville District Office Task Force Participants in the United States Department of Justice Equitable Sharing Program.

WHEREAS, the United States Department of Justice, DEA, has requested that the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department enter into two agreements governing its participation in the Equitable Sharing Program; and,

WHEREAS, the two agreements attached hereto and incorporated herein provide the terms and conditions for participation in the Equitable Sharing Program for participants in the DEA Nashville District Office Task Force Groups 1 and 2; and,

WHEREAS, T.C.A. § 12-9-104 authorizes the Metropolitan Government to enter into agreements with agencies of the federal government for cooperative projects by resolution of the governing body; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this agreement be approved.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the two agreements by and between the United States Department of Justice, DEA, and the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, governing the participation of DEA Nashville District Office Task Force Participants in the Equitable Sharing Program, copies of which are attached hereto and incorporated herein, are hereby approved.

Section 2. That any funds obtained by the Metropolitan Government pursuant to these agreements shall be appropriated to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department.

Section 3. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
