RESOLUTION RS2017-812

A resolution approving an application for an HIV and STD Prevention in Youth Grant from the National Association of County and City Health Officials to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Board of Health, to provide funding to develop an implementation plan to prevent HIV and sexually transmitted diseases in youth using Centers for Disease Control school based approaches in collaboration with Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools.

WHEREAS, the National Association of County and City Health Officials is accepting applications for an HIV and STD Prevention in Youth Grant with an award of $20,000.00 and a required in-kind match of $12,990.00 to provide funding to develop an implementation plan to prevent HIV and sexually transmitted diseases in youth using Centers for Disease Control school based approaches in collaboration with Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools; and,

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government is eligible to participate in this grant program; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the grant application of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Board of Health, to provide funding to develop an implementation plan to prevent HIV and sexually transmitted diseases in youth using Centers for Disease Control school based approaches in collaboration with Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Board of Health is authorized to submit said grant application to the National Association of County and City Officials.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
