RESOLUTION RS2017-806

A resolution approving an application for a Port Security Grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Office of Emergency Management, to protect maritime critical infrastructure and key resources through deterrence, prevention, mitigation, or neutralization.

WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security is accepting applications for a Port Security Grant with an award of $1,658,786.00 with an in-kind match of $414,697.00 to protect maritime critical infrastructure and key resources through deterrence, prevention, mitigation, or neutralization; and,

WHEREAS, the Office of Emergency Management is eligible to participate in the grant program; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved and submitted.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the grant application of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Office of Emergency Management, for a Port Security Grant, to protect maritime critical infrastructure and key resources through deterrence, prevention, mitigation, or neutralization, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Office of Emergency Management is authorized to submit said grant application to the U. S. Department of Homeland Security.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
