RESOLUTION RS2017-792

A resolution to appropriate grant funds from the Tennessee Housing Development Agency to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Action Commission, for Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) services targeted toward the elderly, disabled, veterans, and households with children under the age of six years.

WHEREAS, the Tennessee Housing Development Agency has awarded a grant in an amount not to exceed $5,394,833.00 with no cash match required to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Action Commission, for Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) services targeted toward the elderly, disabled, veterans, and households with children under the age of six years; and,

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Action Commission has accepted this grant pursuant to its authority under M.C.L. 2.108.050; and,

WHEREAS, the grantor has included in this award an additional $243,333.00 in funding above the amount included in the Fiscal Year 2018 Budget of $5,151,500.00 for a total of $5,394,833.00 which amount was not included in the Metropolitan Action Commission’s Fiscal Year 2018 Budget; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that these funds be appropriated to the Metropolitan Action Commission.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the additional funds from a grant by and between the Tennessee Housing Development Agency, in an amount not to exceed $243,333.00, to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Action Commission, for Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) services targeted toward the elderly, disabled, veterans, and households with children under the age of six years, a copy of which grant is attached hereto and incorporated herein, be appropriated to the Metropolitan Action Commission.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
