RESOLUTION RS2017-781

A resolution requesting that all fee revenue from right-of-way temporary closure permits be used for staffing, expenses, and other direct costs of administering such permits.

WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works (the Department) provides many valuable services to the public; and

WHEREAS, the Department issues permits and charges fees for right-of-way temporary closures for various activities, including excavations, obstructions, film activities, and special events; and

WHEREAS, the revenue produced from these permit fees is designed to cover the costs incurred for administering right-of-way temporary closure permits, including the costs of salaries and benefits for employees responsible for permit issuance.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Council hereby goes on record as requesting that the fee revenue produced by issuance of right-of-way temporary closure permits be used for staffing, expenses, and other direct costs of administering such permits.

Section 2. That the Council hereby further goes on record as requesting that salaries and benefits for employees responsible for permit issuance should receive first priority when the Department dispenses fee revenue from right-of-way temporary closure permits.

Section 3. That the Metropolitan Clerk be instructed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the Director of the Department of Public Works upon its adoption.

Section 4. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
