RESOLUTION NO. RS2017-645

A resolution authorizing the execution of a Memorandum of Understanding between The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency (“MDHA”).

WHEREAS, MDHA administers the Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (“VASH”) Housing Choice Voucher program to provide rental assistance to homeless Veterans;

WHEREAS, the number of landlords making affordable housing units available to the VASH program participants has decreased;

WHEREAS, MDHA desires to collaborate with Metro on a Landlord Incentive Program (“Program”) by providing for the payment of a Leasing Bonus upon execution of a new lease and providing a payment for damages beyond normal wear and tear and over and above the security deposit for the VASH program participants;

WHEREAS, MDHA and Metro find it necessary and convenient to enter into this Memorandum of Understanding to state each entity’s responsibilities moving forward with the Program;

WHEREAS, this Memorandum of Understanding is deemed to benefit both parties and the general community.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Memorandum of Understanding (Exhibit A) between the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency (“MDHA”) to collaborate on a Landlord Incentive Program, attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
