RESOLUTION NO. RS2017-632

A resolution approving a Memorandum of Understanding between the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and the State of Tennessee, Department of General Services, for lane change assignments (Proposal No. 2017M-025PR-001).

WHEREAS, Nashville Farmers’ Market (“the Farmers’ Market”) is in need of parking spaces to accommodate visitors of the Nashville Farmers’ Market; and,

WHEREAS, the State of Tennessee (“State”) and Metropolitan Government of Nashville & Davidson County (“Metro”) desire to enter into this Memorandum of Understanding to allow Metro to use the State’s roads to construct parking spaces and change the lane assignments of the Streets to one-way streets in order to provide public parking that will encourage public visitation to the Bicentennial Capitol Mall Park and the Nashville Farmers Market; and,

WHEREAS, the State, Department of General Services, is willing to change the lane assignments of 6th Avenue North and 7th Avenue North, between the roundabouts located in the Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park to one-way streets (“the Streets”) as shown in Exhibit A of the attached Memorandum of Understanding, in order to meet Metro’s needs; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that the Memorandum of Understanding be approved.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Memorandum of Understanding between The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and the State of Tennessee, Department of General Services, is hereby approved.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
