RESOLUTION NO. RS2017-593

A resolution approving an application for a Technology Innovation for Public Safety (TIPS) grant from the U.S. Department of Justice to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, to identify targeted precincts where precipitous increases in crime have been reported and develop a data communication plan/system to reduce crime in the targeted areas.

WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Justice is accepting applications for a Technology Innovation for Public Safety (TIPS) grant with an award of $169,287.00; and,

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government is eligible to participate in this grant program; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved and submitted.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the grant application of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, for a Technology Innovation for Public Safety (TIPS) grant to identify targeted precincts where precipitous increases in crime have been reported and develop a data communication plan/system to reduce crime in the targeted areas, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department is authorized to submit said application to the U.S. Department of Justice.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
