RESOLUTION NO. RS2017-561

A resolution approving an agreement between The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and Bethel University to provide educational opportunities for Metropolitan Government employees.

WHEREAS, Bethel University (“Bethel”) and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County (“Metropolitan Government”) desire to collaborate in providing continuing education opportunities for employees of the Metropolitan Government; and,

WHEREAS, Bethel desires to provide educational opportunities for Metropolitan Government employees to assist in such employee’s professional development and to help enhance employee retention efforts by encouraging pursuit of a Bachelor of Science Degree at Bethel University; and,

WHEREAS, pursuant to the agreement attached hereto and incorporated herein (“Agreement”), Bethel agrees to provide one credit hour for qualified facilitator led and/or online Metro Management Institute courses toward completion of all undergraduate degree programs, certifications, certificates, diplomas, and other instructional programs at Bethel; and,

WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the citizens of the Metropolitan Government that the Agreement be approved.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY.

Section 1. The Agreement between the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and Bethel University to provide educational opportunities for Metropolitan Government employees is hereby approved and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2. This resolution shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
