RESOLUTION NO. RS2017-516

A resolution requesting the Davidson County Delegation to the Tennessee General Assembly support the funding of a sound barrier on the western portion of Interstate 65 in the vicinity of the Chadwell Retreat Townhome Complex in Madison, Tennessee.

WHEREAS, sound barriers erected within Davidson County and Nashville, Tennessee have proven to substantially reduce highway noise levels in residential areas; and

WHEREAS, a number of residences in the Chadwell Retreat Townhome Complex in Madison, Tennessee are impacted by the noise from the Interstate 65 corridor and will continue to be negatively impacted on this highly traveled segment of Interstate 65 for the foreseeable future unless measures are taken; and

WHEREAS, the Chadwell Retreat Homeowners Association submitted a petition on November 30, 2016 signed by members of the Association requesting that the Metropolitan Council support and pass a Resolution asking the Davidson County delegation to the Tennessee General Assembly fund a sound barrier wall along the western side of Interstate 65 adjacent to the Chadwell Retreat Townhome Complex; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that such sound barrier be funded and erected on the western portion of Interstate 65 in the vicinity of Chadwell Retreat.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Davidson County Delegation to the Tennessee General Assembly support funding measures to construct sound barriers on the western portion of Interstate 65 in the vicinity of the Chadwell Retreat Townhome Complex in Madison, Tennessee.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a copy of this Resolution to each member of the Davidson County Delegation to the Tennessee General Assembly.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
