SUBSTITUTE RESOLUTION NO. RS2016-98
A resolution honoring the life of Richard M. Morin.
WHEREAS, in the course of time almost every community can identify with at least one unique individual that becomes endeared to the people of that community and Richard M. Morin was that individual; and
WHEREAS, on Thursday, December 17, 2015, the passing of Richard M. Morin brought a great loss to the family and friends of this beloved individual; and
WHEREAS, a native of Worcester, MA, Richard graduated from Boston University with a bachelor-of-science degree and earned a master’s degree in religious education from the Scarritt-Bennett Center; and
WHEREAS, a life-long Jewish educator and a warm and engaging individual, he enriched his Jewish home and his Jewish community. He spent his time, his talents and his affection to make everyone around him feel included in his circle of family and friends, making a difference in the lives of those he touched; and
WHEREAS, Richard was a member of the Congregation Micah board, an alumnus of Leadership Nashville, a member of the executive committee of the Davidson County Democratic Party and a diehard Boston Red Sox fan; and
WHEREAS, he was director of Jewish education at The Temple Ohabai Sholom, served on the Traffic and Parking Commission, director of Human Resources at Metro HeadStart, managed human resources training for Mayor Richard Fulton, was an alumnus of Leadership Nashville, was a member of the Executive Committee of the Davidson County Democratic Party, served as executive director of National Association of Temple Educators and registrar for the Reform Jewish Educators Certification Program; and
WHEREAS, he was deeply devoted to his family as a loving husband to his wife Cynthia, as a father to son Andrew and daughters Jennifer and Allison; and
WHEREAS, we wish to remember how Richard lived, with integrity, humor and grace; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council hereby express and extend our sincere sympathy to Mr. Morin’s family and recognize the lasting legacy of his good work.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as honoring the life of Richard M. Morin.
Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to the family of Richard M. Morin.
Section 3. This Substitute Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
