RESOLUTION NO. RS2017-509

A resolution approving an application for a Governor’s Highway Safety Grant from the State of Tennessee, Department of Transportation, to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, for the continuance of the enhanced DUI enforcement initiative to reduce traffic fatalities attributed to impaired drivers through aggressive enforcement.

WHEREAS, the State of Tennessee, Department of Transportation, is accepting applications for a Governor’s Highway Safety Grant with an award of $399,999.64 with no cash match required for the continuance of the enhanced DUI enforcement initiative to reduce traffic fatalities attributed to impaired drivers through aggressive enforcement; and,

WHEREAS, The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, is eligible to participate in the grant program; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the grant application for a Governor’s Highway Safety Grant with an award of $399,999.64, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department is authorized to submit said grant application to the State of Tennessee, Department of Transportation.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
