RESOLUTION NO. RS2016-501

A resolution recognizing and celebrating Joseph “Joe Pat” Patrick Breen’s 55th anniversary of the priesthood.

WHEREAS, Father Joseph Breen, the eight of nine children and a Nashville native was ordained into the priesthood in 1961, 55 years ago,

WHEREAS, Father Joe Pat Breen, has served our community and is the former pastor of St. Edward’s, and other parishes in Tennessee,

WHEREAS, Father Breen has been a fixture on the religious scene in Tennessee for decades and has drawn from his education and wealth of experience during his years with the church to both support and inspire the parishioners to move the church forward to keep pace with the diverse needs of today’s rapidly changing society; and

WHEREAS, Father Breen’s commitment to God, his spiritual leadership and his love of his fellow man as demonstrated over the past 55 years and is worthy of all due respect and admiration; and

WHEREAS, Father Breen has held leadership positions in many notable organizations, served on a variety of boards, councils, and committees, has continually supported outreach programs and ministries and actively participates in many worthwhile causes; and

WHEREAS, Father Breen’s integrity and compassion have become renown, for his personality, courage and tireless generosity and spirit,

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Father Joseph “Joe Pat” Patrick Breen and extend our congratulations on this momentum occasion of his 55th anniversary of the priesthood.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing and celebrating Joseph “Joe Pat” Patrick Breen’s 55th anniversary of the priesthood

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Father Joe Pat Breen.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
