RESOLUTION NO. RS2016-457

A resolution requesting that the Metro Nashville Network place for airing, on a regular basis and at regular intervals, the agendas for upcoming meetings of the Metro Council.

WHEREAS, the Metro Nashville Network operates as the Metro Government’s video news and information service; and

WHEREAS, the contents of Metro Nashville Network is broadcast on Comcast channel 3, AT&T U-verse channel 99, and is live streamed at mnn.nashville.gov; and

WHEREAS, Metro Nashville Network provides our citizens with informative videos, announcements, broadcasts of meetings, and general helpful information about their Metropolitan Government; and

WHEREAS, in an effort to make the residents of Nashville and Davidson County more aware of those matters pending before the Metropolitan Council, it would make sense to have the Metro Nashville Network post for airing the upcoming agenda for the Council meeting; and

WHEREAS, when the agenda is finalized, the Metropolitan Clerk could send the agenda to the individuals that operate the Metro Nashville Network who could, in turn, post the agenda for airing at regular intervals on the days leading up to the actual meeting; and

WHEREAS, such a posting adds to the efforts at providing more transparency in government;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as requesting that the Metro Nashville Network post, if possible, on a regular basis and at regular intervals the agendas for upcoming meetings of the Metropolitan Council.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a copy of this Resolution to Keith Durbin, Chief Information Officer for the Metropolitan Government, and to Shannon Hall, the Metropolitan Clerk.

Section 3. This resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
