RESOLUTION NO. RS2016-423

A resolution appropriating funds from the United States Department of Health and Human Services to the Metropolitan Action Commission to support the Head Start and Early Head Start Programs.

WHEREAS, The Metropolitan Action Commission previously entered into a grant contract with the United States Department of Health and Human Services to support the Head Start and Early Head Start Programs.

WHEREAS, the parties wish to amend the grant contract to increase the award amount by $216,447.00 with a required cash match of $54,112.00 from $12,167,540.00 to $12,383,987.00, for a cost of living adjustment for teachers and teacher assistants, a copy of which amendment one is attached hereto; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that these funds be appropriated to the Metropolitan Action Commission.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That amendment one to the appropriation from the United States Department of Health and Human Services, in an amount not to exceed $216,447.00, to the Metropolitan Action Commission to support the Head Start and Early Head Start Programs, a copy of which amendment one is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby appropriated to the Metropolitan Action Commission.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

Mr. President,

I move to amend Resolution No. RS2016-423 by deleting the following text:

“WHEREAS, the parties wish to amend the grant contract to increase the award amount by $216,447.00 with a required cash match of $54,112.00 from $12,167,540.00 to $12,383,987.00, for a cost of living adjustment for teachers and teacher assistants, a copy of which amendment one is attached hereto;”

and substituting in lieu thereof the following:

“WHEREAS, the parties wish to amend the grant contract to increase the award amount by $216,447.00 with a required cash match of $54,112.00 from $12,167,540.00 to $12,383,987.00, for a cost of living adjustment for the Head Start and Early Head Start Programs, a copy of which amendment one is attached hereto;”
