RESOLUTION NO. RS2016-375

A resolution authorizing the Mayor of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County to execute a letter to the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency confirming the acceptance of an award to Homeland Security District 5 from the FY2016 Homeland Security Grant Program to provide core homeland security assistance to build capabilities at the State and local levels.

WHEREAS, Homeland Security District 5 is to be awarded $694,984.00 for seven counties in Tennessee from the FY2016 Homeland Security Grant Program; and,

WHEREAS, Davidson County is to receive a grant award of $149,270.00 with no cash match required to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Office of Emergency Management, to provide core homeland security assistance to build capabilities at the State and local levels; and,

WHEREAS, each district is required to submit an acceptance letter; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that the letter of acceptance be executed by the Mayor.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Mayor of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County is hereby authorized to execute a letter to the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency confirming the acceptance of an award to Homeland Security District 5 from the FY2016 Homeland Security Grant Program to provide core homeland security assistance to build capabilities at the State and local levels, a copy of which letter is attached hereto and incorporated herein.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
