RESOLUTION NO. RS2016-318

A resolution recognizing Mr. Chris Henson for his service to Nashville and the Metropolitan School System.

WHEREAS, Mr. Chris Henson was appointed for the second time in July 2015 to serve in the capacity of Interim Director of the Metropolitan School System (having served in this capacity from January of 2008 until January 2009); and

WHEREAS, during his tenure as Interim Director Mr. Henson served a District consisting of more than 86,000 students and more than 160 Schools; and

WHEREAS, during his tenure as Interim Director, Mr. Henson also served (and will continue) as CFO of our school system; he is a member of the Governor’s Basic Education Program (BEP) Task Force,
the State Board of Education’s Basic Education Program (BEP) Review Committee, Tennessee Association of School Business Officials (Past President), Council of the Great City Schools, Trevecca University President’s Advisory Council, and The Tennessee Credit Union Board of Directors; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Henson is supported by his wife, Patricia and his children Christopher, Caroline and Clayton; although, his second career choice as a Travel Adventure Guide might have been more fun; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Henson provided steady, reliable leadership during a time of growth and progress, and throughout all this (and by now we shouldn’t be surprised), Mr. Chris Henson managed to run weekend marathons; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Mr. Chris Henson for his dedication, contributions and day-to- day involvement as Interim Director of the Metropolitan School System.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Mr. Chris Henson for his service to Nashville and the Metropolitan School System.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Mr. Chris Henson.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
