RESOLUTION NO. RS2016-306

A resolution requesting that the Metropolitan Council approve by resolution the location of the Sheriff’s new administrative offices facility prior to the disbursement of general obligation bond funds, commercial paper, or any other funding toward this project.

WHEREAS, a Sheriff’s Administrative Office was included as a public works project within the initial resolution determining to issue general obligation bonds, and the exhibit thereto (the Capital Spending Plan), in the amount of $20.0 million dollars, as approved by the Metropolitan Council on June 21, 2016 as Resolution No. RS2016-245; and

WHEREAS, a Sheriff – New Administrative Offices Facility (project no. 17GS0018) was likewise included in the 2016-2017 through 2021-2022 Capital Improvements Budget in the amount of $20,000,000 dollars, to be funded by proposed G.O. bonds, as approved by the Metropolitan Council on June 14, 2016 as Ordinance No. BL2016-252; and

WHEREAS, the specific location of the Sheriff’s new administrative offices facility has not yet been publicly discussed, determined or announced; but the location of this facility is of significant public concern and warrants review and approval by the Metropolitan Council prior to disbursement of any general obligation bond funds, commercial paper, or any other funding toward this particular public works project.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THE BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as requesting that the Metropolitan Government of Nashville & Davidson County, Tennessee not disburse proceeds from general obligation bonds, commercial paper, or any other funding toward the Sheriff’s New Administrative Offices Facility unless and until the specific location of this particular public works project has been reviewed and approved by resolution of the Metropolitan Council.

Section 2. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
