RESOLUTION NO. RS2016-250

A resolution approving an application for a Port Security Grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Office of Emergency Management, to mitigate an equipment shortfall within the Port of Nashville by adding one National Incident Management System (NIMS) response package for Radiological/Nuclear Detection (RND).

WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security is accepting applications for a Port Security Grant with an award of $849,000.00 with no cash match required to mitigate an equipment shortfall within the Port of Nashville by adding one National Incident Management System (NIMS) response package for Radiological/Nuclear Detection (RND); and,

WHEREAS, the Office of Emergency Management is eligible to participate in the grant program; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved and submitted.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the grant application for a Port Security Grant, with an award of $849,000.00, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Office of Emergency Management is authorized to submit said grant application to the U. S. Department of Homeland Security.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
