RESOLUTION NO. RS2016-221
A resolution congratulating Nashville Christian School on winning the 2015 TSSAA Class 1A State Football Championship.
WHEREAS, the members of the 2015-2016 Nashville Christian School football team have proven themselves as competitors and, as such, are deserving of recognition; and
WHEREAS, the Nashville Christian School football team finished its season with a record of 14 wins and 1 loss advancing them to the state playoffs as a fitting finale to their season; and
WHEREAS, the Nashville Christian School Eagles football team ended the season by winning their first state championship, defeating Greenback 42-14 in Cookeville, Tennessee on December 4, 2015, in their first ever appearance; and
WHEREAS, after the game senior C’Dmareio McGraw was awarded the most valuable Offensive Player of the championship and sophomore Jesse Watson was named the most Defensive Player; and
WHEREAS, members of the team are: Noah Lovell, Jesse Watson, Bobby Clark, Blake Pruitt, Will Irwin, DuSean Sayles, Bryce Pemberton, Jaylon Jackson, Kyle Tidwell, Lelan Wilhoite, C'Dmareio McGraw, TJ Neal, Bryce Collier, George Walker, Chad Kinnard, Brock Harris, Kethian Starling, Sid Morris, Zach Clark, Blake Barfield, Jesse Parrish, Gregory Williams, Carter Clark, Xavier Myers, Andrew Sullivan, Slater Howard, Joseph Curley, Adam Young, Daniel Bituli, Sam Wilson, Garrett Collins, Daniel Watson, Jack Robbins, Hayden Jarrell, Robert Brantley, Austin Shelton, Brant Lawless, Nathan Hargrove, Gunnar Pfeffer, Warren Hanson, Stephen Waddill, Eric Arnold, Nathan Gaidos, Tyler Demonbreun, Tanner Goodman, Luke Robbins, Jack Elliott, Noah Schurman, Joseph Dyer, Maverick Marlin, Zach Young, Riley Griffin, Stetson Marlin and Devon Clarke, and a special remembrance for Mickey Martin who was a valuable member of the team; and
WHEREAS, the team benefitted by the guidance and leadership provided by head coach Jeff Brothers, who has been with the Nashville Christian School football team for six seasons, assistant coaches Phillip Montgomery, John Crosby, Ryan McClary and Kyle Anderson; athletic trainer Johnathan Vieira and managers Jake Campbell and Otto Lewis; and
WHEREAS, the dedication, determination, and work ethic of these individuals not only made possible a successful and memorable football season, but will play a big part in guiding them towards their future endeavors; and
WHEREAS, the City of Nashville takes great pride in the remarkable accomplishments of the members of the football team who have excelled both on the field and in the classroom; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes the Nashville Christian School football team, for their success on the football gridiron, the team’s first state championship and the players first-class sportsmanship.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as congratulating Nashville Christian School on winning the 2015 TSSAA Class 1A State Football Championship.
Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Nashville Christian School football team head coach Jeff Brothers and players.
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
