RESOLUTION NO. RS2016-144
A resolution honoring the life of Dr. Sandra Thomas-Trudo and condemning domestic violence.
WHEREAS, on Thursday, January 21, 2016, the passing of Dr. Sandra Thomas-Trudo brought a great loss to the family and friends of this beloved individual; and
WHEREAS, a native of Cleveland, OH, Dr. Thomas-Trudo graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a bachelor-of-science degree in biology and earned a Medical Doctor degree from The Ohio State University Medical College; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Thomas-Trudo served the Metropolitan Government as the Director of Epidemiology at the Metropolitan Public Health Department since 2010, where she supported the growth of the Fetal Infant Mortality Review Program; and
WHEREAS, Sandra was a dedicated pedestrian and transit passenger, serving on the city’s Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Thomas-Trudo’s life ended tragically through an act of domestic violence; and
WHEREAS, The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County wishes to condemn domestic violence and respectfully honor victims and casualties of domestic violence; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council hereby express and extend our sincere sympathy to Dr. Thomas-Trudo’s family and recognize the lasting legacy of her good work and contribution to the Metropolitan Public Health Department.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as honoring the life of Dr. Sandra Thomas-Trudo and condemning domestic violence.
Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to the family of Dr. Sandra Thomas-Trudo.
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
