RESOLUTION NO. RS2016-114

A resolution recognizing February 15 through February 19, 2016, as Show Your Love for Teachers Week in Metropolitan Nashville/Davidson County.

WHEREAS, the 5,302 teachers throughout Metro Nashville Public Schools work tirelessly each school day to educate MNPS’ 86,000-plus students; and

WHEREAS, the system’s 166 schools are dedicated to the education of students and to providing a rewarding workplace for all teachers; and

WHEREAS, a great education system is essential for the future of our growing city; and

WHEREAS, the Nashville Public Education Foundation is honoring all teachers and their lasting positive impacts through the month long Show Your Love for Teachers campaign; and

WHEREAS, our teachers deserve proper recognition and thanks for their work and commitment; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize Show Your Love for Teachers Week to kick off this citywide effort, and encourage all residents to recognize their child’s teacher or a former teacher who impacted their life,

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing February 15 through February 19, 2016, as Show Your Love for Teachers Week in Metropolitan Nashville/Davidson County.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to a representative of the Nashville Public Education Foundation.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
