RESOLUTION NO. RS2015-59

A resolution authorizing the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County to enter into an agreement with the City of Belle Meade to permit the City of Belle Meade’s Police Department to exercise the law enforcement authority of a Metro Parks Police Officer in Parmer Park.

WHEREAS, RS2013-693 authorizes the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County to enter into agreements with the City of Belle Meade with respect to the performance of municipal functions; and,

WHEREAS, Parmer Park, owned by the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, is located within the City of Belle Meade and Davidson County; and,

WHEREAS, it is the intent of the agreement, attached hereto as Exhibit A, that effective law enforcement and a secure environment is provided within Parmer Park; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this agreement be approved.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the agreement by and between the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and the City of Belle Meade for the purpose of providing effective law enforcement in Parmer Park, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved

Section 2. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute the necessary documents pertaining thereto.

Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

Amendment No. 1
To
Resolution No. RS2015-59

Mr. President,

I move to amend Resolution No. RS2015-59 by deleting the following text:

“WHEREAS, RS2013-693 authorizes the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County to enter into agreements with the City of Belle Meade with respect to the performance of municipal functions;

Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.”

and substituting in lieu thereof the following:

“WHEREAS, Tenn. Code Ann. § 12-9-101 et seq., authorizes the governing bodies of political subdivisions of the state to enter into cooperative agreements;

Section 3. This resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.”
