RESOLUTION NO. RS2015-15

A resolution recognizing Mr. Richard Benson, owner of Benson’s Market, Hermitage, Tennessee on the occasion of his retirement.

WHEREAS, Benson’s Market, originally a country market established in the late 1930’s, was taken over by Mr. Benson’s father Myron Benson in 1949; and

WHEREAS, Benson’s Market has been a gathering spot for the Hermitage Community throughout its existence; and

WHEREAS, Benson’s Market has been a model for a successful small business, the backbone of our economy; and

WHEREAS, Benson’s Market has proven that small business can successfully compete with large retailers; and

WHEREAS, Benson’s Market has consistently provided quality products at a good price; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Benson has faithfully served the Hermitage Community by operating Benson’s Market since he took over the business from his father; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Benson is retiring after serving the Hermitage Community and his loyal customer base for 50 years; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes the accomplishments of Mr. Benson, thanks him for his many years of dedicated and excellent service, and wishes him a happy retirement and many years to fulfil his quest to golf, fish, travel, and sit on a beach.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Mr. Richard Benson, owner of Benson’s Market, Hermitage, Tennessee on the occasion of his retirement.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Mr. Richard Benson.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
